Cosmetic Bonding

Bonding is the application of tooth colored filling material to the healthy enamel surface of a tooth or teeth. Bonding can improve the appearance of teeth with minor chips, cracks, stains, or fill in areas that have small spaces between them. Enamel shaping of adjacent or opposing teeth is often combined with bonding. This involves minor modification of the shape of teeth to improve their appearance. The process is quick and comfortable and the results can be seen immediately.

Advantages of bonding are that it is relatively quick, and completely reversible.

Disadvantages of bonding are that it is not as strong and durable as a porcelain veneer, and therefore may need to be replaced or rebonded more frequently.
